Kempsey agents yarded 700 head for its annual breeder sale on Friday with good bids on cows with calves and strong buying for unjoined heifers.

All cattle were sold dollars per head and cows with calves averaged $1410 a unit to reach a top bid of $2300.
Heifers averaged $1144 to reach $1800.
Of those, the unjoined portion made from $1000 to $1400, according to Kempsey Stock and Land agent Ian McGoldrick.
Meanwhile, buyer demand was softer for lightweight weaner heifers, a result that perhaps would have improved had the sale been held after this weekend's necessary rain in the Macleay Valley.
Greg Wallace, from Rivergum Angus at Kendall, topped the breeder sale by offering commercial Angus cows with calves that made the top price of $2300.
Poll Hereford heifers, tested to be in calf to a poll Hereford bull, brought $2020 for Rodney and Tracie Kemp from Vanjarra stud, Hampton Hall.
Angus cows and calves from the Hughes family's Four O Eight stud, Macksville, made $1700.
Steve French, Comara, sold Brangus first calf cows to $1880.

Oakland Park Angus stud at Euroka topped the pregnancy-tested-in-calf category with red-tagged Angus making $1800 a head.
Best unjoined heifers were Charolais from Tony and Sophie Brown, Kinchela, making $1620.
These were the last of their cattle after dispersal, and sold to the Youne family, at Greenpoint.
Unjoined yearling Angus heifers made bids that reached $1480 for Simon and Alison Diecke from Kogo Angus, Upper Rollands Plains, who sold to an upriver grazier.
Droughtmaster heifers from Glen and Jodi Duff, Riverview Brahman stud at Toorooka, sold to $1260.
Unjoined Angus from Hughes Butchery, Glenrock, made $1220.
The last of the Dungay Park Angus cattle, following their dispersal, included two bulls that sold for $8000.
A host of buyers were in attendance from the mid North Coast, the Northern Tablelands and locally.
The sale was conducted by Kempsey Stock and Land.
